About Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is a seriously complex multi-system inflammatory disease caused by a bacterial infection produced by the spiral-shaped bacteria called Borrelia burgdorfer (Bb) that is most commonly believed to be contracted by a tick bite. The ticks that carry the Lyme bacteria often carry microorganisms that cause other diseases which also require treatment. When Lyme disease goes undetected or is not adequately treated, it can affect every tissue and every major organ system of the body. A complete symptom list is too long to be included here and includes chronic joint, connective tissues and muscle pain, GI disturbance, immune dysfunction, heart irregularities, headaches, body heat disturbance, and neurological disease. In severe cases, Lyme disease can be fatal.

What is toxic mold disease?

The molds that produce airborne toxins can cause serious symptoms such as breathing difficulties, memory and hearing loss, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, and acid reflux. These microscopic substances enter the body through the skin, mucous, and airways, and colonize within the body. The immune system is weakened and processes of the body are damaged. Once people leave their contaminated environment many ailments caused from toxigenic mold can be reduced through treatment. However, other health problems may remain indefinitely, including brain damage and compromised immune systems. Coordination/balance, memory, eyesight, and hearing are generally the most common residual effects that may not improve after treatment.

Treatment for Lyme disease

Oral antibiotics may be sufficient for early, non-disseminated Lyme infection. However, with a long-standing, disseminated disease complicated with co-infections, several courses of intravenous antibiotics may be required. Lyme disease bacterium can persist despite aggressive treatment. When antibiotic treatment is discontinued prematurely, some patients develop serious complications that can lead to permanent damage. There are many alternative treatments that may offer additional hope and relief to Lyme patients including Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment, nutritional supplementation, immune support, anti-inflammatory treatments, physical therapy, acupuncture, and detoxification regimes, to name a few. Dannie and Ari have aggressively sought treatment and have received combinations of all the above over the past 6 years. They are turning now to restorative treatment which has been curative for those Lyme patients fortunate to receive it: stem cell transplant which has the capacity to heal the cells damaged by Lyme and restore them to vibrant health. Stem cells are able to repair the neurological damage that is caused by Lyme disease, e.g. encephalitis, chronic fatigue or myelitis. Stem cells do not eradicate Borrelia, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, making the treatment they have received thus far necessary in treating the Borrelia. However, both, Ari and Dannie, are suffering from the damage that was caused by Borrelia and its co-infections including encephalitis, chronic fatigue and myelitis. These are among the most disabling impacts of the disease, which will be remedied by stem cell transplant. In effect, stem cell transplant will correct the damage done by the infection, returning them to a higher level functioning and enabling them to re-enter life!

From Columbia-Lyme.org

"Lyme disease, a major health threat to our nation, has increased in incidence dramatically over the past 15 years. Millions of people who are diagnosed with other conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and other degenerative diseases may, in fact have Lyme Disease causing or contributing to their condition. Lyme disease has been reported across the United States, with areas of heavy intensity in the upper Midwest and the Pacific Coastal states, and in many countries throughout the world. In some highly endemic areas, as many as one in four households have had a member affected by Lyme disease. Although Lyme disease responds well when diagnosed and treated early, patients unfortunately do not always see the tick bite or rash. These patients are at risk of developing a chronic form of Lyme disease, which may affect the joints, the heart, and/or the central or peripheral nervous system. Little is known about how best to treat patients with the later stages of the disease."
